Our
senior school program offers our students a diverse range of academic and
vocational pathways through the senior phase of learning, which are focused on
ensuring all students are best prepared for life after school. Students
should select subjects that will suit particular career aspirations and that
will match abilities and interest and should use the advice received from class
talks, information evenings and discussions with Teachers, Heads of Departments
and the School Guidance Officer. Students generally study 6 subjects over the 2
year course.
Our aim
is for each student to achieve a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE), a
Vocational Educational Training (VET) qualification and where relevant, access
to a tertiary pathway. To enable this, students are able to study a broad range
of subjects appropriate to their career or tertiary pathway. These subjects
include:
- General
and Applied subjects as per syllabus documents set out by the Queensland
Curriculum Assessment Authority (QCAA).
- VET
qualifications - Certificate II courses delivered on campus and
Certificate II, III and IV courses offered by external Registered Training
Organisations (RTO).
- School
based apprenticeships or traineeships (SATs).
- University
courses (e.g. CQU – Start Uni Now and University of the Sunshine Coast
(USC) – Headstart).
